Solar Gel Battery

Gel deep-cycle batteries sized for solar: 100Ah, 150Ah and 200Ah at 12V, documented weights, dimensions and warranty.

Solar Gel Battery

This page brings together the gel models XD Battery documents specifically for solar systems. Solar duty is the harshest common service for a lead acid battery: a deep discharge every night, a recharge that depends on the weather, and an enclosure that bakes in the afternoon sun. Gel chemistry is specified for it because the immobilised electrolyte resists stratification and spill risk, tolerates deep discharge better than flooded designs, and keeps working in heat that shortens other batteries’ lives. Every model below carries a three-year warranty in its documented specification.

The solar gel models

The 12V 100Ah solar gel battery is the reference block: 31 kg in a 407 × 172 × 240 mm case — the standard large-monobloc footprint, so it drops into existing racks and boxes. The 12V 150Ah solar gel deep-cycle battery (41 kg) is documented with a one-piece minimum order, which makes it the practical choice for single-system projects and replacement sales. The sealed 12V 200Ah solar gel battery extends the line: nominal capacity 200Ah at the 10-hour rate, in a 522 × 234 × 223 mm container, maintenance-free and built for solar system service. All three are offered with OEM/ODM options — your branding on the case is a production option, not a special favour.

Sizing a gel bank

Work backwards from the night load: daily watt-hours divided by system voltage gives the amp-hours you must replace each day; divide by your chosen depth of discharge (gel rewards restraint — designing around half the nameplate capacity doubles cycle life expectations) and add autonomy days for bad weather. Four 100Ah blocks in parallel make a 400Ah 12V bank; the same energy at 24V or 48V halves or quarters the parallel strings, which is kinder to balance. For banks beyond a few kilowatt-hours, also price the OPzV 2V cell route and the 51.2V storage systems on this site — our team will quote both so the comparison is real.

Can I mix these gel models in one bank?

No. A bank should be one model, one age, one batch where possible. Mixing capacities in parallel unbalances charge and shortens the whole bank’s life.

What panel and controller settings suit gel?

Use the controller’s gel profile or set absorption at the lower gel-appropriate voltage; confirm exact setpoints against the model datasheet when you order.

Is the 200Ah model suitable for a home system?

Yes — it is documented for solar systems and is the largest single 12V gel block in the line. Two in parallel serve many off-grid homes; larger homes step up to 2V cells or 51.2V storage.

One final selection note: all three models sit in the same gel family and share its charger requirement — a gel charge profile. When replacing an existing bank of another brand, compare the documented figures on this page (capacity basis, dimensions, weight) against the incumbent before assuming a drop-in swap; footprints in this class are standardised enough to usually fit, and checking costs nothing.
